Good Questions: Discontinued Ikea Pattern Sheers?

05_15_GQ.jpgI recently completed a major decorating overhaul of my kitchen and living room and last week I went to Ikea to pick up some of the final touches. I was disappointed to find that some of the items I had been planning on purchasing had increased in price, but I was DEVASTATED to learn that the drapes I had been coveting were DISCONTINUED!!! I am beside myself, I don't know what to do! I have been scouring the internet ever since, but I cant find any info on the curtains I was looking for, and I cant find a suitable replacement. The drapes I was after are sheers from ikea that look remarkably similar to this shower curtain...

They were part of last year's summer collection. They have a pebble/river rock pattern similar to one of their duvet covers that they still carry (but they don't share a name). I couldn't find any photos of the actual sheers (because I don't know what they're called), but they do look remarkably similar to this shower curtain. If anyone knows what they are called or -even better- where I can still find some, I will finally be able to finish my living room. Thanks, thanks, thanks, Samantha

i have a pair that i bought and never used. they need a good washing (from being shoved at the bottom of a secret pile in my closet) but if you want them they're yours. they are ~very~ narrow in width, a kind of odd aspect, but i'm pretty sure they are the ones you are talking about.

Try Target. I go through the window coverings aisle there about twice a month, and I've seen a sheer that is sort of zebra-ish that is not too dissimilar and may make a suitable replacement, maybe? (Sorry, can't find an online photo, but I think it's made by "Xhileration" or whatever they call their teen line.) Good luck!

A head's up - the things in the seasonal catalog are usually single run products. If you want, buy.

Yeah, I feel your pain. My husband and I have had the same experience at Ikea where we've spotted something we love but didn't have a need for at the time only to go back when we need it and it no longer be there. We've since learned that if we see something we like, we buy it. Then we hold on to the receipt and return it in the event we end up not needing it. Or, gift it. Ebay often has a lot of Ikea products.

Have you checked if they still have the fabric at Ikea?

When you think about it....Ikea has gone higher in prices

However.....11 years ago I was billy bookshelf crazy, buying one in cherry with every paycheck till my room was nearly wall to wall bookshelves

The tall ones were $59 then.....and the short ones were $39

They are now $89 and $69

That's not too bad

eBay is a good source for discontinued IKEA stuff.

I have a pair of these and I LOVE them! However, the way I got them was quite strange. I bought a pair and later decided that my budget didn't allow...I had my receipt and was able to return them for a full refund. Then the clerk happened to accidentally scan them and told me that they were ringing in for $.99 each! They were "discontinued" at that time. I had paid, I think, $40 for the original two sheers - here I was able to instantly re-purchase them for $1.98. Later - maybe six months ago? - I was in Ikea and again they had the sheers and again for full price. So, perhaps they aren't _really_ discontinued?

Hi everyone, OP here!
Thank you all so much for your responses.
Of course I've tried Ebay, but without the name of them, it's been a difficult search process.
I've seen the ones at Target, and yeah, some of them are really cute, but none of them are long enough.
And to those of you who still have some in a box or closet somewhere, I hope to hear from you soon!!!

Thanks again everyone, and if someone knows the name of these curtains and could post it I would appreciate that too!
